From my pov as one who's invested in AIAPA, i'll just share w you what i know (might not be 100% correct) and what my returns are so far. Will have invested around 56800 (excess) by end of premium term in 13y time. The reason i'm doing this is to break the stigma of ilp by committing to the entire term and choosing funds w the highest risk possible. If shit happens, its my money so don't come and 'i told you so... or etc'. I'm taking one for the entire community here.

  1. 100% investment, it isnt really a 100% because you have to include the fund charges (1.5%pa of aum), "speciality" of AIA funds (2.5%pa of premium paid) and sales charge (5% per ad hoc top up) factored inside and not forgetting early surrender charge (?%pa). AIA will 'give' you 5% of additional premium paid every year as bonus from 13y onwards and void the "speciality" charge all the way till the end. These are all the fees that are applicable should you purchase the plan.
  2. Upon death, the guaranteed db is what you have invested so far plus bonuses if applicable regardless of economic situations. Fund switches are free and you are free to allocate the premiums to your choice of funds. Takes around 1 week max for process.

Greater China equity fund 70% (bought in may20)

Regional equity fund 30% (bought in may20) switched to Global technology fund 30% (nov20)

$3600 lump sum invested in may20

$3600 lump sum invested in may21

$10000 ad hoc lump sum invested in aug20

Fund value as of 24/12/20 = $15416, I'll leave the actual returns to people who are free and actually i also dk how to count. Will update if funds are changed.

Disclaimer: anything bought after the crash in March would have resulted in massive gains for this current period so don't need to boast and do your own research. Peace. :)

Avoid ILPs at all cost. Super high fees and many layers of fees within. Everyone in the pipeline gets a cut from you, and you are the goat at the bottom getting slaughtered by fees. Fees are critical as it reduces your returns significantly
