Should I get multiple mobile devices?

Hi, currently I have 1 phone & 1 laptop as a poly student. I have an older phone which I used to download my music before transferring to my main phone or MP4 player to listen to. As a uni student/working adult, should I get like 2 phone (1 work, 1 personal) so that I can separate work from play? Then for studies, get a tablet (for days which I need not bring my laptop. Then at home have a laptop & a desktop set up to mimic my phones (1 work, 1 play)?

If you have the means, please go ahead!

An idea for the work phones for me is, I do not just use it for employment work purposes but also for side hustles like small businesses and carousell.

Just think of the cost benefit analysis and do it. Or, if you are unsure and would like to try this idea out at low to no cost, just go ahead first! You may never know if you end up loving this experience or finding out that having lesser devices are actually more optimal fore yourself.

All the best!

Hi Jaye, thanks for your response. May I ask how many devices do you have or what do you do for uni studies to note down notes, read lectures notes, etc. 😄😄

I have a gaming laptop aged ~3+ years, bought a 7th gen iPad last year as i wanted to immerse in the iOS experience + enjoy the portability that a tablet has over a laptop for phones i use a basic android model for mixed uses and share another android phone with my brother for side hustles
Thank You!

No, not so important to separate into 2 phones. reduce costs better, and the smartphones anyway do not last long (battery, accidents)

Hi Frankie, thanks for your response. I'm aware that phones doesn't last longer than around 2~3 yr before you might have to switch to a higher spec device. However, with the growing globalization, the apps that we used (FB, Whatsapp, Telegram, IG), banking apps, new articles apps, etc, it wear off our devices & overcrowd our devices, thus, thinking of a second device to split the apps into different devices. Thanks again for your response. 😄😄

My employer gives me a phone for work for free with the option to extend it as a private phone for a very low rate. but in this case I decided to keep work and private separated. good luck 🍀
Thank You!

If you're rich, why not?

Some companies pay for a corporate device (eg Prudential, my ex company).

Hi Ember, thanks for your response. I see, but I meant like having 2 personal devices, but 1 is used for work purposes (communication, studies, business) while the other is for leisure use (gaming, music, etc). Thanks for your response again. 😄😄

Hi alcander, what i meant is eventually when you start working companies will provide you a phone anyway, so no need to spend extra money for work. But if you have extra phones lying around in your house, you can even use a different phone each day lol
Thank You!
