Credit Cards

If my salary is <$2.5/mth, is there any credit card that I can get? Or am I limited to debit only?

Asking because I am not sure what my job prospects will be when I graduate and the markets seem bad now, might not get the salary I want

Hi anon,

In general no, but you can get a secured credit card by putting down a collateral, usually a FD with at least $10K.

However, even if your pay does not hit $2.5K/mth, you might still be eligible for a credit card if you have an AWS paid out which brings your annual to more then $30K, just that you will probably have to explain this in person to the bank.

Because of MAS regulations, you need min 30k annual income for credit card. However most banks (e.g. DBS) are offer a secured credit card if you put 10k in their FD. This can usually only be done in branch. No online application.
