I have been working for about 1 year and still relatively fresh in my industry. I am wondering, in this COVID situation, will it affect my career growth?

So much uncertainty now, I am wondering should I start a side hustle during this crisis? Or should I hoard on my emergency funds?

Depends on the impact of COVID-19 on your industry.

If it is hit badly, the companies usually will be looking to conserve cash and try to ride through this. In this sense, activities such as training or overseas postings will be reduced or stopped. So opportunities for you to learn and grow could be lesser. Also employment opportunities within the industry could be impacted as well. The economic recovery might take a while.

Regardless of situation, if you have an opportunity for a side hustle, you should consider it. And continue to build your emergency funds.
