I am entering university next year. What kind of job/career would pay well?

I saw an anonymous post that the OP got about 8.5k a month as a fresh graduate. I also noted that some fresh grad were earning way above the average (3.5k) at around 6-10k a month. What are these fields are they only just limited to tech (SWE) and finance (IB)?

Any other fields out there that I should note?

I commented his post he very satki. lol.

got a feeling it is finance related. in my investment journey met several finance controller, auditors, portfolio managers, consultants, all seems very well to do at a young age.

yah, but we outside their industry may not understand the hardwork they put in. and if you do not like the job nature, you may not stay long.

have also seen many insurance agents come and go. therefore cannot simply believe insurance agents when they tell you they are there to build a long term relationship with you.

First off, I would ask you if you had interest in those 'high paying jobs'. Yes, its a old fashioned thinking to work in a job that you like. But the hard truth is, if you hate the job, regardless how well paying it is, you are not going to last and wont go far.

Let me give you an example. Yes, you are right. IT/Tech is getting much higher pay because of the specialization and demand. We are moving towards digital nation and technology is the future. But if you had no interest in programming or coding, you will die when they ask you to face the computer whole day to debug and program. In the long run, you will get bored and hate going to work. Your productivity will drop and you will lose motivation. Worst, if your programming skills is bad or deteriorate after sometime, you may even lose your job.

Also, even though there is high demand, there's also high supply. There are plenty of graduates from IT/tech. What makes you stand out from the rest? Can you get degree with honours? Gold medallist?

I would say pick something that you like so that at least your motivation is there. It will push you to excel better and it may be cliche but 行行出状元。Regardless of which sector, if you do well, you will promote faster and earn a high paying job. Starting pay doesnt determine your whole career. Start low but climb fast.
