How should a tutor declare self employment? I would like to but I am unsure of the accounting part as I mostly receive cash payments?

Can freelance tutors who submit CPF and paid tax help with this? I know that not all tutors declare, but I am wondering how I might be able to handle this. How can I keep prove of the sessions i went, and cash/paynow received? Subsequently, do i declare to cpf on self employment, declare to IRAS for tax and then make my own cpf contribution? are there steps missed?

Generally, as a tutor, you should calculate all payment to you as revenue.

Minus some business expenses related to tuition could include:

  • Stationery and postage fees

But must exclude:

  • Cost of travelling to and from your home
