How does one start investing into the S&P 500?

Also knowing the considerations of cost incurred such as transaction fees and taxes (withholding taxes) involved where should I start and will the returns outweigh these costs?

2 general options (but of course more...)

#1 open free online brokerage account with TD Ameritrade or Charles Schwab, they have no commission fees for U.S. ETFs, how nice!

You could buy tickers VOO or IVV, which are large and mega-cheap

#2 open an online brokerage account with a cheap SG brokerage that also has access to european markets. ticker of choice would be VUSA, as opposed to the other option (Singapore listed SPDR, that has much higher annual total expense ratio)

You could

Open a broker account. Easy to do at many banks in Singapore.

Buy a Vanguard ETF VUSA from the London Stock Exchange rather than from a US-based one to avoid tax implications.

Reinvest the quarterly dividends to maximise your compounding benefits.

Hey Joel, I personally do it via Roboadvisors, as it is the most cost effective way to do so.
