How do you calculate your portfolio returns?

Do you use time weighted returns? XIRR? Annualised returns? Which method is more sensible for investors?

Annualised returns is an easier way, you can compare year to year.

It makes more cents (pardon the pun) especially when you are holding portfolio for years and decades, making annualised returns the easy and best way.

I used annualised returns as its easier to compare y-o-y performance

I use XIRR using Microsoft Excel to track

Annualised returns for me.

I calculate by annualised return. Also in interactive broker, they can do it for you....
