Hi Seedly fam, it’s nearing the end of the year. Just wondering, how did your investment perform for the year? Mind sharing the returns in both % and $ and underlying investments? Thanks, HUAT AH!
Hey Anon, here's how my portfolio performed as of 31 Dec -
1. US Stocks
Realised Profits: $1,071.51 USD
Unrealised Profits: $2022.15 USD
Realised Profits: $266.02 SGD
Unrealised Profits: $550.80 SGD
Everyone's a genius in a bull market. The test comes during a market correction or selldown - (1) whether we will have weak hands/conviction and let our emotions get in the way, and end up selling or (2) taking the opportunity to scoop up more shares at a discount. In any case, my new year resolution would be to further reduce my reliance on robo-advisors and DIY instead through my brokerage account.

Congratz. Congratulations everyone who makes a profit and to those who begins their investing journey.
One thing I learnt from gurus, my personal experience and Warren buffet is never lose money. This includes irresponsible use of margins calls and stock buying. As much as one compare with others, compare with your past progress too.
Understand the reason why others make the changes and the rationale behind your change.
I have made 300% gain. About 2000SGD profit from top glove which I bought about a year ago. This very stock has taught me a lot of lessons: patience, market sentiment and my loop holes behind my consideration when I am investing.
I will borrow an advice from @ Uncle Otaku from investingnote. "Learn what is a bad investment"
Only then will you know when to exit any investment that used to be 'good ' in your opinion. Only then will you know which investments are unwise, value trap, etc so that you can avoid.
In my opinion, a good investment beats inflation /capital preservation (minimum criteria). A better investment is one that beat your targets (any target such as STI or previous targets or goals). The best investment is yourself.
A great start is STI . Why SPH exits STI? OR why happenings such as Sabana Reits saga, hyflux saga, Eagle h Trust saga, first reit saga plunged?
Have a great 2021 ahead. HUAT!

I've got 3 active and 1 passive.
P/L for 2020: 88% gain
P/L for 2020: 12% gain
P/L for 2020: 320% gain
Unit Trust (Passive, div payout)
P/L for 2020: -16% loss, 5% APY div collected
In summary, I did pretty well and bought on the dips during the crash. SG market did not recover fast enough compared to the US market and I did some bad trades while being greedy. Crypto is my best performing when I didn't expect the last two months so simply rocket out of sight. Withdrew most of my capital from my crypto portfolio, probably might use it to fund another UT or ETF for higher div payout.
Hello Anon, it's been a good year for most and I would say I have done good too! At the moment my unrealised profits in % is around 67% gains. Most of the stocks I have picked are in the US. Sold poor stocks and bought companies I have high conviction in for the future. Here's to an awesome 2021!
For detailed performance review, I did a blog post of my portfolio here!
Overall Performance: +11,078.84 SGD
$874.39 USD (Realised Profits)
$6374.1 USD (Unrealised Profits)
From the span of one year, I effectively transformed my portfolio from 100% SG Stocks to US Stocks that were invested since 2018. In 2020 alone, I effectively increased my net worth by +68% through investing/savings.
My portfolio consist of DIY Stockpicking of 15 stock positions which consist of 5 ETFs and 10 individual stocks as well as Syfe Equity100 (12 ETFs).
