How can I calculate the rate of return on my annuity? I suspect my agent misrepresented it. Also, is there any other payments other than the guaranteed 1k/month?

My plan: Aviva MyRetirement
Annual premium: $3017.70 for 26 years. Then no payments for 5 years.
Thereafter, i get a 1k monthly payout for the next 10 years.
I have photos but nowhere to upload. Seedly, pls advise where I can send the photo link anonymously.

Thank you.

Hey, I'm pretty sure that there may be additional bonuses above the 1k per month that is guaranteed.

What i understand is that you have some options on how you want to receive the bonuses:

• Choice to withdraw partial or lump sum, or receive monthly income at your selected Retirement Age • Withdraw accumulated reversionary bonuses at any time

The S$1k per month is the Guaranteed amount.

If you are unsure, feel free to send me a copy of your photo link to my fb and i will respond accordingly. https://www.facebook.com/brandan.chen

And on a separate note, this isnt exactly an annuity since you are only receiving payments for 10 years. Annuities typically mean a fixed payout for life

Premium paid = 3,017.70 x 26 = 78,460.20

Returns = 1000 x 12 x 10 = 120,000

Profit = 120,000 - 78,460.20 = 41,539.80 (over 36 years)

Average profit per year = 1,153.88 (36 years)

ROI = 52.9% (over 36 years)

Average return per year = 1.47% (quite little, even SSB has higher returns)

please do correct me if im wrong
