Not trying to short change the reply here but you should read up about the credit card you are interested in and decide for urself whether it suits ur situation with the below link

https://www.cimbbank.com.sg/en/personal/product...

The only thing I wanna share here is usually ppl applies credit card for

  1. Cash rebate
  2. One for one discount or equivalent
  3. Miles pt or equivalent

You only apply for a credit card when it gives you benefits and not when it gives you headache.

Hope my reply helps.

Pros

  • no min income to apply for students and NSF
  • low entry point of 18k if you are under 35
  • Focus on most common lifestyle perks - telco/dining etc
  • unlimit cash back
  • no annual fees !

cons

  • 1% is a very Low level for rebates
  • Applicant must not be an existing CIMB Credit Cardmember —> such a weird requirement !

summary

  • Get the card if you do not meet the min income requirementS of a standard credit card
  • want a fuss free cash rebate program

This card targets students, NSFs and the lower income earners. I feel that it's pretty good for the target audience since as an NSF myself, I do not meet the minimum salary for the other better credit cards. Moreover, it doesn't have any annual fees so I can just keep and use it whenever I want/need to without worrying about any fees. As for DBS debit card, I believe that it requires a minimum spending of $400 which I believe most students and NSFs can't hit, and thus will be unable to qualify for the cashback. So this CIMB AWSM credit card is a good alternative for them.

Nothing fantastic about the card. I would opt for Standard Chartered Unlimited Cashback Card and Amex True Cashback Card. Both earn 1.5% cashback for no minimum spending.
