Any recommendations? Looking to hack miles in this regard :)
This question is no longer accepting new answers because it has been merged with What is the best credit card to use for wedding banquet?
You can use the SCB X card for 60K miles upon $6K spend and paying the annual fee. This is by far the best sign up bonus for what you spend.
After that, consider KF Ascend, Citi PM, DBS Altitude.
This does depend on which card that you qualify for, as some of them have higher income requirements.
I'd use the Milelion sign up bonuses guide here:
KrisFlyer Ascend card if you how not signed up before- you receive 1.2 KF miles per dollar and 15k KF miles when you spend $10k within the first 3 months. Then partially pay the other portion of 6k via Standard Chartered Infinite X card.
Last part is to be paid by AMEX plantinum card for its first 20k sign up bonus
Otherwise consider uob privi miles due to its no cap on transfer and high general spend mile rates of 1.4 mpd
As there is no specialised credit card for airmiles for wedding banquets (they are not included as part of hotel mcc code), the only way to hack is to tap on sign up promotion miles campaign.
Wedding banquets arr big ticket items so they will definitely help towards the sign up promotion of hitting $xx thousand of dollars. This is probably miles hack i can think of
Depending on the sum of your wedding payment, you may want to consider the new DBS Altitude card sign up promo that gives you up to 36,000 miles for your first $6000 spend. This works out to be 6mpd. Afterwards, you get 1.5mpd for the first 180 days, which is the best general spend card out there at the $30k income range.
Go for cards with sign up bonus. Because you are going to have a few large bill, a sign up bonus for new cards can be easily achieved.
Go for the milelion sign up bonus guides and the latest sign up bonus for credit cards. SCB has a good one recently!
Hey there! For miles it's best if you time it together with sign up bonus. I think SCB X card gives the best one so far - $6K spend and annual fee for 60K miles!
You may want to consider if the Amex Platinum card is worth it? 75000 MR points with $20k spend in first 3 months. Plus member get member promo with 40000 MR points with $5k spend in first 3 months. MR can be transferred to frequent flyer programs.
Hi Mike, congrats on your upcoming wedding! It will definitely be one for the memories, I bet.
It could be worthwhile to compute the various expenses you woud incur, and consider the possibility of you paying them with seperate cards - should you be able to hit all of their minimum spends to gain all sign-up bonuses. That way, it could help you in attaining the most miles in the quickest possible time. There is an article (https://milelion.com/2019/09/21/miles-game-starter-pack-four-credit-cards-you-need-to-get-going/) that list the different types of cards available to maximise all possible miles based on the transactions so hope this is useful for you.
You may consider Standard Chartered Visa Infinite X credit card - you receive 1.2 miles per dollar plus 60k bonus miles when you charge a minimum of $6k within 60 days and pay the annual fee.
Alternatively, you may also consider KrisFlyer Ascend card - you receive 1.2 KF miles per dollar and 15k KF miles when you spend $10k within the first 3 months.
Else you may consider a general card like Citi PremierMiles. You get 1.5 miles per dollar by spending above $3k and 26.5k bonus miles for meeting the spend requirement and paying the annual fee.
Note: 1.5 miles per dollar is for the current promotion period.
