I think that Seedly have one of the better user experience and design in the market. However, I have to agree with YL that this new campaign is misleading. Initially, I clicked on the Telegram link and ended up on Seedly homepage, I clicked it again and I am still at the homepage. What further surprised me is the new banner that ask me to click on the notification bell button to sign up for the career package. I've already signed up for their newsletter and yet the banner repeatedly prompt me to do it. I know this campaign is to increase the newsletter subscribers but at least come out with a better banner to encourage sign up. Or have a confirmation after I clicked the banner. !

I am quite disturbed by the inactivity fee IB has. If I intend to buy and hold only 2-3 global funds what are some better alternatives? Is etoro safe?

Hey Ying! I am using IB too and sure understand your concerns. I have friends who choose to hold them with TD Ameritrade or SAXO. Saxo charges at 0.12% p.a for your stocks in the holding and a minimum of USD4 per trade. Same goes for TD, which charges a flat USD10.65 per trade. I heard that SCB is not a bad option too for holding because they do not have custody fee. As for Etoro, I personally not that keen on that platform as I feel that it is too gimmicky. Even the influencers that they use are like a joke. Hence, as someone who read and listen to their brand messages/image, I would think they are unsafe. If you are purchasing at high amount, do calculate the fees properly and be sure not to lose out on the commission, exchanges, and custodian fees.

Hey anon! Like Jon mentioned IB have spot rate for forex exchanges. They charge a 10USD per month for any inactivity and when your commission paid to them is lesser than that. Eg. you pay comission fees of 7USD this month, you will be charged an addtional 3USD at the end of the month. The good thing I would say for IB is that there's no maintainence fees nor yearly holding fees. Their comission rate is also the lowest in the market. It's free when you're a US resident too. As for SCB or Saxo, I have not used them before. Kristal.AI is good when they have the ETFs you are looking for. It's free for account below 50,000USD.

Hey! I am an avid IBKR user haha I think at the beginning it is hard to navigate too. It's especially daunting on their Trader Station. I avoided it at all cost. Now I am only dealing with all my stocks on the mobile or web version. I assumed you are a Singaporean looking ot purchase overseas stocks or ETFs. Hence, you will need to convert the currency. This can be completed under "More", you can see the option to convert currency. From there, choose the amount you wish to convert. Normally, I will convert all because of the cost. Next, start a watchlist. Delete theirs as I find it to be too overwhelming. Add in your ETFs for tracking and watch their data. They do not offer real time data for free and you have to pay for their subscription. Again, to prevent overwhelmin of information. Generally I will focus on 2 tabs, Portfolio and Watchlist. There are a lot of functions which I have not fully explored too. We can start our mini community here! Hahha it will be interesting to see what everyone is doing on IB too!

What will be the best approach to Syfe’s REIT portfolio as of now? 100% REITs or with bond?

Hey Anon! I have my Syfe account with their global portfolio. I have to say that I am heavily affected by the bonds as they have over 50% of it set to bonds. Given the current market that was affected by covid and USA Feds, I would say bonds are at a all time low. As for the Singapore REITs portfolio, I have yet to venture into it. However, from my perspective and understanding, current bond return rates are very low. If I am in your position, for let's say a short term portfolio (3-5 years), I will consider going for full REITs. I believe offices will be fully open soon, malls will have increase traffic, this will increase the price of REITs value. If for long term, say 10 years, I will consider the bond option. Mainly because bonds work well with longer investment period. Just my 2 cents worth. Hope this helps!

Anyone sold their artwork on Society6, Redbubble or Zazzle before? How's your experience like? Which platform is better and why?

Hey Anon! Nice to see another creative around here. I have sold my artwork back in schooling days. I have used Society6 and Redbubble for close to 2 years. The stuffs I sold are mainly pets design to be printed on mugs, throws, pillows, and print. I managed to earn around $40 USD per month after half year of setting it up. The traffic are organic and built up through SEO. I have not use their customer service before but I would say back in 2014, Society6 already have better audiences and customers as compared to Redbubble. I remembered Society6 have higher pricing commission as compared to Redbubble but offer more flexibility in terms of how you crop your product for POD (print on demand). I have stopped since 2016 after I graduated and enter the industry because I do not have time to manage it.

I am a fresh grad with about $40k in my savings accounts. I want to start doing long term investments but I am overwhelmed by the options I have. Any advice?

Hey! Awesome with that $40k savings! I think first off, get yourself a fixed deposit account, I know the rates are bad now but having to put some money into a fixed deposit helps you to ensure that you have proper savings for the future. Next, I would suggest to take up an insurance plan. Life plan to be exact. Then, I would suggest that you put the remaining amount into ETFs. Look for diversification rather than narrow stocks. Lastly, if you still do have money left. Go buy a lot of stocks from a company you love and believe it will do well in the future (say 10-15 years). Otherwise, get started with Seedly's beginners guide to investing article will be helpful too!

What do you like or dislike about OUE Commercial REIT (SGX: TS0U)?

I been watching OUE for the past 3 months since the crash in mid March. Won't go into the fundamentals and technical side but just looking it as a business operation. I do think they are pretty well diversified in their properties from offices, hotels to shopping plaza. However, I personally find that their foot traffic can be rather low even before the Covid period. Offices are occupied 90% previously and located in the Central of Singapore which I think is great. However, given the current situation, I am not certain how long they can last through. Their OUE Downtown also consist a fair bit of medium-high end tier shops, yoga studios, gyms, which only have foot traffic when offices are open. I think all these adds into my doubts to put them on watchlist now.

I am new to trading. I am thinking of opening a brokerage account to buy SG stocks. Which are the brokerage firms that offer good trading platforms?

Hey Anon! Welcome! Trading can be rather dangerous to start out new if you aren't even sure which platform to go for. Personally I don't trade SG stocks because they are not very active to begin with. With no high volume, the stock would not move much and you will not gain much profit from trading. If you are looking to trade overseas stocks, I would suggest IB interactive brokers. They have very low commission fee and can access to various market from Nasdaq, HK, to Pink Sheets. However, once again, word of advice, do not trade when you have not get the basics done right. I do hope you are referring your "trading" as "investing or buying a SG stocks". Hope this helps!
