Hey Elliot, I have yet to come across such issue while trading on IBKR. I assumed that the price limit for the share you have set is either too low or too high above the market rate. Some executing brokers may set a price limit for a buy order to balance the trade and price risk, thus cancelling your order or delayed it. Certain exchanges may also impose their own price cap that result in the same situation. As for the other questions 1. As mentioned, have not encouter this issue yet. I only buy stocks within the comfort zone of my spending power. And definitely watch the stock for a period of time and do your sums. 2. I think IB by itself is very versatile. The only limit so far will be unable to purchase SG stocks because I open with an SG account. Hope this helps! You can read more about it here: https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?f=14186

What skills do you have as a freelancer? If it is design, quite a few agencies and design studios are looking to help freelancers to grab hold of a short-term gig. The government have a few portal that provide job openings. If not, take this time to upgrade yourself, give yourself a month or two to pick something new. It will amp you up once the market starts to recover in Aug (hopefully).

Stick it out but at the same time keep your eyes open for new opportunity. Only leave this job after you successfully SIGN an agreement over at the other. Do not leave even when they provide you with a verbal agreement. The market is bad now so keep this job and get the cash! All the best :)

Hey anon! I hope you have begin investing. I do recommend SAXO / TD Amd / IB for investment into US market. As for the expensive USD, look for stuffs like TransferWise/Youtrip to fund your account. I personally use IB forex exchange to do the conversion because I find them to have pretty decent rate. It reduce the trouble for me to go through multiple platforms. Hope this helps!

Interesting question. I do however think there is no 'good time' to buy. The stock market crashed around the world because of COVID but interestingly they're recovering because of the budget gave out by the government. If you're looking for best stocks, I would say go for REITs. Given that the government recently ramp up the control of crowd in the public space + WFH, the shopping centres and offices are definitely affected. Hence, I believe their prices will fall in the coming week. But everything is DD (Due Diligence). Please read up on your own and follow the latest news. Do not invest your savings into it because it is a 'good time' now.

Interestingly, the REITs are climbing back slowly. I think this is largely due to the recent package release by government. Property prices will be hard to say as people may not want to sell their house now as it is safer to have a roof over your head. Less trading, more concious buy.

How much is your capital to begin with? I will give my insight for 2 popular brokerage, SAXO and IB. TLDR: If you are trading frequently, go for IB. If you are for long term investment, go SAXO. I start out with $1000 SGD for Interactive Broker. So far, I am loving their interface, response, conveniece and such. However, be wary of their monthly USD10 charges that can be waived off if you reach a USD10 Commission per month. Hence, this will depend on how much you are trading each month. If you are buying almost every month for 1-2 trades with $5 of 200 shares. You can easily hit the comission rate. Comparing to SAXO, they do not have monthly fee but do charge a transaction fee of USD4 per trade + 0.12% yearly fee for the stocks that you have. I personally have not use this but I trade regularly and this does not benefit me.

I think for shareholders who are confident of Singapore Airline operations (read DIE HARD FANS) will be happy for it. As what Kenneth have mentioned, new investors or day traders probably will stir away from it for a good 1 year or so. Personally, I do think Singapore Airline will go through this tough time and come up alive. I am all for Singapore Airline because of their service and convenience.

You can take a look at StocksCafe. They offer pretty good pricing for $4.9SGD per month to do the above. Downside will be that it is relatively a small company, by the founder alone (according to the website). I saw this review online and it's really comprehensive: https://betterspider.com/stockscafe-review/ Hence, the reliability of it may not be able to sustain for 10 years.

My thoughts too. However, I think it may be due to the fact that manicure, hair dressing, facial services are a want not a need. Probably that's why the government placed less emphasis on the particular sector. And as you mentioned, digital solutions are limited for such sector and Singapore is moving towards a digital future, they do thus have to prioritise their packages and budget. Overall, I think the recent package and initiative do benefit the whole Singapore regardless of sector. It is very much dependent on how you view the situation. Here's my 2 cents worth of view point.
