DBS Vickers Securities

I have a $10K budget. Looking to start my investment journey on VWRA on DBS Vickers as a core investment portfolio. Should I use $10K as a lumpsum or DCA quarterly/monthly?

Never lump sum, always DCA. Also, don't get ripped off by local brokers like DBS Vickers with their ridiculously high commissions as well as fees that really shouldn't exist anymore today (like custody fee for instance) when buying overseas stocks/ETFs. There are much better ones, like Interactive Brokers for example.

My opinion: 1. Overweighting US. IWDA is already 65% US. Add QQQ in and you're overweighting FAANG and the "usual suspects". 2. Too little exposure to China. I am of the opinion China will overtake US. It's just a matter of time. 3. Local bias. Singapore is only 0.4% of the world economy. With this portfolio, you are (if my calculations are correct): ~53% US ~5% China ~11% SG ~31% RoW (rest of world) My suggestion: Instead of IWDA+VWO, go with VWRA. This one ETF alone covers both developed and emerging markets. Instead of QQQ, invest in a China tech ETF. 9169.HK and KWEB come to mind. There are a few more good ones, just Google :) Use the funds originally intended for VWO for the China ETF instead. Reduce Singapore exposure. I personally am: 35% US 45% China 15% RoW 5% SG

Which ETF will you choose - VDEV or IWDA?

If you're looking to combine it with an EM ETF like EIMI, then neither. VWRA does the job of IWDA+EIMI.

In January 2020, I was pressured into buying a AIA Pro Lifetime Protector - Max. This is my first investment linked insurance policy. My yearly premium is 4K. Should I withdraw?

ILPs are the worst, no matter what people tell you. I was in a similar situation, ended up surrendering the policy with a loss of a few K's and used the money to invest into the stock market instead. Best decision I've ever made. I'd say get out as soon as you can but ultimately the decision is yours. NEVER mix insurance and investment together. There's a reason why agents love to push ILPs, I don't think I need to tell you why. Have a look at all the threads on ILPs on the HWZ forums ;)

With their absurdly high fees, there is only one winner in buying UTs/Mutual Funds and it's not you. Buy into ETFs instead.

Does anyone know when I will get the rebate on my buy trade? - If you bothered to read the TnC, you would have seen this: 5. Regardless of when the Qualifying Transactions were performed, the reimbursement for the Rebate will be made by 31 May 2020. The Rebate will be credited in the same currency that the Eligible Customer traded in for each Qualifying Transaction. Yes to your 2nd question.

Yes yes yes you get the base 1.2.mpd. I don't get people who keep asking about this. Just top up a very low amount, i.e the min SGD 10, wait for a couple of days then check if you get miles for it. Not difficult to test it out yourself now is it?
