Apply early, save early!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Enter 98517652 as your referral code for additional $20 savings! I have been using Geneco since the start of 2019. My take is that instead of pondering over the differences, we should just take action and you will start saving from day 1. Expecting the promos to be lesser soon and rates may start rising as electrical tariffs has just risen in July 2019. So please act fast to get the best savings. https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/electricity-tariffs-city-gas-prices-rise-july-september So, good to quickly take advantage of current fixed rate promos before their prices increase too. Current Promos: (Updated 17th May 2020) Please find more details of existing promos on the Geneco website below. https://www.geneco.sg/residential/promotions/ Essentially there are 2 different promos codes now which gives the following benefits. 1. GSS50 $50 off bill rebate. One-time off rebate on your bill. Valid for all plans except Give Us A Try plan and Get It Green plan. Applicable till 30 June 2020. Applicable for online sign-ups only. Additional rebates: 1. Up to additional 1% Uob card rebate (for 12 months) on recurring bill with UOB cards by 30th June 2020. 2. Enjoy an additional S$20 rebate off your Geneco electricity bill when you make recurring payment with a Citi Card. Applicable till 30 June 2020. 3. Enjoy up to 1% cash rebates with no minimum spend and no cap on cash rebates when you charge your recurring electricity bills on POSB Everyday Card at Geneco. 4. Enjoy up to an additional S$20 bill rebate when you pay your recurring Geneco bills with your Standard Chartered Credit Card. Be the first 850 customers to enjoy an additional bill rebate of S$20 or S$10 when you sign a 24/36-month or 12-month electricity plan respectively through recurring payments with Standard Chartered Credit Cards. Customer must set up recurring payment by 30 June 2020. 5. Additional S$10 rebate when you sign up with Geneco and make recurring payment with an OCBC Card. Get an additional S$10 rebate when you pay your electricity bill on recurring an OCBC Card by 30 June 2020. Limited to the first 3,000 customers. Plus, enjoy 3% cashback monthly when you pay your electricity bill on recurring with an OCBC 365 Credit Card. 6. Extra $20 rebates if you enter 98517652 as your referral code. Recommend to go for Option 3 and Option 6 if your bills are on average $90.. 1% rebates on 90 bucks for 12 months would be about $21.60 savings already, plus a further $20 startup rebate for you. I am using these options personally. Electricity is maintaining at high levels or going up so would recommend the fixed price offer, but decision is solely up to you. Markets are unpredictable. Oil and gas prices are low, but in Singapore, price usually increase faster than for it to come down from past experience. Better act fast! Tariffs went up! Not sure current offers will remain for how long. Sign up online is easy and hassle free. So far prices have been the better ones and no false marketing like displaying the price without gst. March 2019 deals even better at 17.78c/kwh for 2/3 year plans but has since increased to 17.98c/kwh. Would recommend fixed plan over discounts over tariff plans. Switch over now without hesitation as every day delayed is costlier than waiting to get a slightly better deal in future.

Stocks Discussion

Hello finance gurus. Both of my Stashaway and Autowealth portfolios took a massive hit. Lost a total 20%. Should I lock my losses and increase the cash reserve or hold it for the next few years?

For robo or DCA investing, may be good to continue on the plan as it is for Long term. (As Long as you do not have cash flow issues) the same amount of money invested now can get you more units than when the market is at a high, which can help average down your portfolio over time.

Why is it recommended to top up CPF in January every year?

If you have hit your BHS and FRS, then your best chance is to top up on 1 Jan when the MA interests for the previous year is moved to OA. You will have an opportunity to top up to the BRS for the new year (due to yearly limit increases). Eg in 2020, you can top up $2,800 from $57,200 to $60,000 which is the new BHS limit.

Got to be both for sure. Sg homes are typically investments that can hold good value over time as the scarce resource and stable economy in Singapore give them value that can be held over time. But investments can be bad... The property asset can depreciate due to age or poor location/demand so it is important to pick the right one if you want to maximise your future yield, whether you are staying in it or renting it out, or passing it on to your children in the future. Even as a home not generating income for you, we still "gain" from being able to enjoy all the rights and facilities of our own home and not having to "pay rent" elsewhere. If it is a unit rented out to tenants for yield, then just make sure the rent less the expenses is sufficient to cover the interests for your mortgage... The surplus will be someone else paying you for your property.

Bought mine this year and in the market. can share more if you pm me. But, in summary, this year there are plenty of new launches in the market and prices for the last 2 years have been quite steady or even with slight price increments or discounts depending on the development. luxury developments are moving a bit better recently due to more foreigners coming in due to their local political pressures compelling them to seek alternative safeguards outside their home country. locals have more to choose from this year, with many still on the sidelines apparently due to the uncertainty of trade wars, recessions etc. But would expect lesser supply in the next few years as Developers plan to complete selling the current stocks, and from the lesser en-bloc and gls activities this year compared to the years before the last cooling measures in 2018.
