I was checking the same thing and I think its hard. In my opinion, this is def a hard thing to do, so I would use the ongoing promotions to fiji on fiji airways and try to upgrade

I ll tell you something based on a very easy calc if you spend $20k a year, lets say all on a basic miles card, you get 24k miles. lets assume you get a sign up bonus, thats about 10k extra. Assuming you have no bonuses/ category spending whatsoever (which is basically impossible) you still have enough just for a basic flight/ short business flights. So yes, if you but a bit more effort to this - I think this figure can easily be upto 60-90k miles for your spend

What I hear from parents is SQ is great. No point for guessing - another great one is Emirates. Just make sure you tell them upfront while checking in

Possible, definitely. Advisable - NO To everyone its own, but I'd say it doesnt take much to be disciplined in this art and worst case, you can just consider using cards where convenience and for sure you wont loose anything!

You're right - there would be fewer seats etc. HOWEVER, the big thing is, less incentives for banks to give and WAYYY less miles to be handed out. So my opinion is, the more the merrier :)

Assuming you have opportunity for both - I would go for first (mainly suites) Hopefully you get lucky and get a business upgrade otherwise upgrades to first would be very very rare
