Congratz, you can consider buying etf if you are still not comortable to select stocks. Since you also have a sizeable capital, you can consider to do DCA if you dont know if the entry price is attractive or not. Also do read up more to figure out your investment philosophy so that you will not be put off by the daily price movement.

You can just allocate time to specially to study. It does not take long, it can be as litte as 10min per day, so 1hr per week. The amount of content can just be scale according to your time limit. For example, i used to read tons of investment blogs when i used to have more time, now i used to read quick weekly updates and selective blogs.

For me, i do this by 1. Investment books (what metrics to look out for, build your mindset, learn people mistake) 2. read blogs (why they choose certain stock, what is their holding/portfolio) 3. subscribe to services to give you more analysis or easier management like stock cafe or stock report analysis, can also be screener 4. paper trade to get some hand on experience. 5. throw in some real cash to buy real stock and check on the mindset.

For custodian accounts for share trading platforms - what will happen if the platform runs into trouble?

As custodian account is considered having the records only on the company own server or data base, if the platform closes, you will have the risk of losing all the custodian shares/stocks. However, there are some platform whereby the risk is reduced where these company has the custodian stock/share backed by 3rd parties insurance, so you still can claim back a certain amount or even the full allocation.

For me, i would prefer stashaway. Stashaway is also helping you to invest into different ETFs so in one way, you can have the best of both choices. Stashaway has low fee and it has a good basket of etf for you to expose to. So if you are looking to diversify your portfolio stashaway is a good option.

Yes i do and i have done it a long time ago. and when you mention about trading platform, you mean fiat/cash - crypto or crypto - crypto? mtgox(no more) - that time almost all bitcoin is bought and sold through this platform so this dominates all. it got hacked and my funds still stuck in there. coinbase - despite the high fee and huge spread and poor fx rates, it is one of the more simple and first bitcoin trading platform fybsg(no more) - as i want to cash out locally, fybsg is one of the first few local bitcoin trading platform. the spread is quite huge but at least it takes a day or less to get $ in and buy btc. i later move on to coinhako for local as it support more coins beside btc. the spread is bad also. And if i have the patient, i would use gemini which is the best as now we can transfer sgd to usd with good rates and feeless, the spread of gemini is minial so it is the best choice but sometime it can take up to 1-2 weeks to credit and that is a huge issue in crypto. recently binance also launch binance sg where you can use xfer to instantly deposit and buy crypto. the price is not bad and the withdrawal fee is low. best option for now beside gemini. if we talk about crypto to crypto, i used a lot of platform, mainly due to the coins it support. So the popular ones are binance, kucoin, huobi, hitbtc etc. in fact, you can go to coinmarketcap to look at the popular trading platforms. some of these platform like kucoin even gives interest for having coins in their platform.

I give to parents about 15% of my salary. The reasons are 1. My parents dont really noe how to use the money effectively. They will end up spending unnecessary stuffs if i give more(i used to give a lot more but i beg very hard to reduce). 2. 15% is affordable after deducting housing, water + elec + gas bill, hp bills, internet, insurances, baby fund. 3. I tend to give some "bonus" like collectibles during festive session instead of cash so it can preserve the value better.

Robo-Advisors

Passive(Robo) investing Vs Active Investing?

Answered on 18 Dec 2019
Active investing can be challenging if you have little capital. Cause if you end up buying individual stocks, the fee can eat into your profit or put you in red immediately. For example, using dbs vicker to buy a stock worth of $200, you will straight away lost $11 dollar which is consider one of the cheapest out there. That is chipping 5% off, and you may even need to wait for years just to get back that 5%. As for passive investing, the fee tends to be cheaper with some of them have no min fee. So in this way, even with an investment of $200, robo advsior like stashway will take away $2 or a regular saving plan RSP in DBS will eat $2 too. So fee can be quite scary and it can be very cruical if yo uhave little capital. On the other hand, passive tends to go for ETFs, while active you have more choices.

MCO Visa Card

Multi Currency Cards

Is it worth getting the MCO VISA CARD?

Answered on 18 Dec 2019
As MCO is a crypto coin, you will be subjected to price swing in MCO price. So ask yourself if you are able to withstand a drop of 50% or even 80% of the MCO price when you stake for half a year? Saying so, do have a look at the tier of 50MCO, given that MCO has been declined from its all the highs for quite some time, the down side is still unclear and that is the scary of crypto. Yet, because it is just 50MCO, you wont have too much to lose. In return, you can have 2% cashback for all your purchases and even free spotify which is quite worth the risk. However do take note that even though the cashback is immediate, the cashback is in MCO form, so you still need to sell the MCO back to SGD and there is a min of MCO before you can sell. Also, you can also involve in crypto earn where you can gain 6 to 12% of crypto interest if you have other crypto coin that is sitting around and doing nothing. Also, the conversion rate is quite good, so you can just credit in SGD and you can spend it on msia and any foreign country without the need to go to a money exchanger. The SGD deducted was comparable to good rate offered by money exchangers.

What is the difference between IPO and ICO, and why do companies pick one over the other?

I love this topic. Being in crypto space for years, this is something i can share. ICO is inital coin offering and this is very very different from IPO. ICO are mostly classified as utility tokens. What this mean is that by buying ICO, you does not entitled to any rights or shares of the company. It is just like buying vouchers from Sheng Siong or Capitaland mall, so that you can use these for purely purchases. In holding these tokens, you do not benefit from the share holders, so you would not receive any dividend. However, as the tokens does not pegged to any fixed value, it is prone to demand and supply. So the price of the tokens can x100 or x0.01. But at this point of time, there isnt real demand for most ICO as the company did not even have their own mainnet up or they yet to fully develop the protocol/ecosystem to utilize the token. I can go on a lot more to break down which tokens/coins have specialised function/exosystem that has huge potential but all these are projected values which is extremely high risk with mostly no logic/sense of backing it. Having saying so many negative stuffs, I still love crypto as it has became the best payment methods for me. I trust crypto more than banks payments.
