Grid Mobile

Mobile Plans

The grid mobile is not actually contract based plans like Singtel. It is more flexible in which you pay about $24.90/month for 40 GB of data (thats really a lot more than what Singtel offers), 200mins outgoing calls and 200 SMS. If you are planning to change your mobile server, tomorrow is the last day of the offer where you can get 1 month of free subscription with no registration fees! Something interesting about grid mobile plan is that they got the gridRewards where you can earn points when you refer friends and stick with them. These points can give you rebates and cashbacks in your bills (it will automatically offset in your next month's bill) or your points can be spent at listed partner merchants (e.g. grab, chope, adidas). Grid mobile can be something to consider because if you are looking at data being your main priority in choosing a mobile plans, this plan offers a good amount of data each month.

Aviva Car

Insurance

To me, most car insurance gives the same benefits and services but things you should take note of for the Aviva car insurance would be the no claim discount (NCD) protector where if your car is damaged and it was not your fault, your NCD remains and no upfront payment is required. Also, Aviva has the lowest NCD penalty upon claims - they only deduct 10% when you make claims while most are 30%. There is nothing much to look out for for the aviva car insurance other than the lower NCD penalty. I would not say there is anything particularly outstanding about this policy

OCBC NTUC Plus! Visa Debit Card

Debit Cards

If you get your groceries from NTUC, this card should be something you should use. Get 8% off at FairPrice and Unity stores or Warehouse club and 7% off FairPrice Online. This is assuming you spend a minimum of $200 a month anywhere outside of Fairprice. If you spend more than $400 outside of fairprice, you can get up to 12% off at fairprice and Unity stores as well as Warehouse Club. Also, up to 8% off at Fairprice online. I think its a card worth having specifically for the NTUC discount benefits.

Yes there is actually a promotion going on now until the end of the month (31 March 2020). the deal is that you get a $50 cold storage shopping voucher upon successful enrolment for a 5 years Enhance Policy Housing Content Insurance plan (EPHCI) OR a 3-year Homes complete plan. I would say this promotion isnt very attractive as the cold storage gift voucher for buying a housing insurance plan is not exactly very worth it.

I wouldn't say there is anything particularly attractive about this plan honestly. there is unlimited medical evacuation cover where there is no limit to the number of claims you can make for medical. sports equipment protection where damage or lost equipment can be claimed. but during this covid-19 period, many of these conditions do not apply for claims. you will have to refer to the new rules for the covid-19 coverage as these perks may not apply, depending on the period you buy your pollicy. Not particularly attractive other than the unlimited medical claim (assuming you buy it when the virus is not around) so it would depend if you are looking for something more specific

Expenses Tracking

Try to walk as much as you can cause that really saves you A LOT on transport expenses (even if it is a 35min walk, its still cheaper than a 15min bus ride) but of course if it is wayy too far then try to buy a train pass for the time you are there. Since you are going with your family, you can definitely save on food. In order to try more things, spend lesser on each meal and share every meal! My family went to the extent of sharing 2 burgers for 4 people...so yes it is very possible to cut on the cost of food. Something else you can do is go on free tours or explore the city on your own. it would be good that way because not only do you save on expenses but you also see much more of the city. I think planning the finances of your trip really helps. Like allocating specific amounts for food, transport and shopping for every single day and make sure you stick to it.

COVID-19

As the COVID-19 is a known event, the policy's claim conditions has changed. If you bought the policy or booked your trip after 23 Jan 2020 (included) for a trip to mainland China, you cannot make any claims related to the outbreak. This does not apply to Macau, Taiwan and Hong Kong. If you boguht your policy or booked your trip after 31 Jan 2020 (included) to anywhere in the world, your claim does not cover trip cancellation, postponed, cut short or disruption related to the outbreak. if bought after 6 March (included) for travel plans to anywhere in the world, no claims related to the virus is covered.

There is a promotion going on now until the end of March. The promotion offer for single trip plan is that there is a 25%, 30% and 35% savings for essential, standard and superior plans while for the annual multitrip, the promotion is that you can save 20% for essential and standard plans while for superior plan, you will get a Samsonite luggage (68cm) or 20% savings with $50 Al-Futtaim gift vouchers. These promotion would make it a good time to buy the policy but with corona virus being a pandemic issue for our world right now, it is not a good time to buy travel insurance policies. i mean, i am assuming you will not be travelling anytime soon. so even though the promotion is worth it, you should still pass this offer and buy other plans like health or life insurance plans.

Main things you should look at would be that there is up to $2mil coverage for overseas medical and accidental dental expenses, up to $5k coverage for loss of personal money and travel documents as well as 5k coverage for fraudulent use of credit card. Get up to $50k for medical expenses after your trip and up to $20k for cancellation of travel plans. For simpler things that tend to happen on overseas trips, there are also good coverage for them. Get up to $2.4k coverage for baggage delay, up to $8k for loss of personal property or baggage. If you face a loss of requent flyer points, you can claim up to $20k for it. There are quite high amounts of coverage for this plan so I would say it is something worth considering

Allied World Travel Protector

Travel Insurance

COVID-19

During this period, they will not provide cover under its travel insurance policies for any claims related directly or indirectly to the pandemic. By directly/indirectly they mean if the place you go to or was planning to go to has cases of the virus then the Allied World Travel protector insurance does not cover you. (basically almost everywhere in the world right now is not being covered). As World Health Organisation has declared the virus as a pandemic, any claims related directly/indirectly to COVID-19 will not be allowed regardless of destination (started from 12 March onwards)
