Fresh Graduates

Career

Considering the COVID-19 situation, job hunting is more difficult. As a fresh graduate, is it unwise to evaluate a job offer? Should I "just accept"?

Take your time to consider if the job is satisfactory and beneficial to your development (not just financially but mentally too!) Keep in mind that job-hopping does not have a bad reputation as it did in the past and it is reasonable to jump from here to there whenever you feel that it is appropriate to do so. This period is challenging but merely accepting your fate will become more of a challenge for yourself in future!

Too many things to consider as an average fresh graduate but unless you have really aced in financial planning early on in your life, i wouldn't consider one for myself.

You would have to withdraw it in cash. There is no other way to move it from a roboadvisor to a brokerage or vice versa.

Personally, FSMone has been rather low on cost for me and it charges 50HKD per transaction (buy/sell). You can excess China market through HKexchange commonly or ETFs offered in NYC/Nasdaq featuring China companies.

How often should I be checking the value of my CPF funds? Should it be a regular check whenever my pay comes in?

I donā€™t think you need to check it all the time, maybe bi-annually would be sufficient! Personally, I do check my CPF annually until I managed to have more than the required amount to invest using CPF. In addition, you can also calculate an estimate of your CPF amount ahead of the year (provided your salary maintains throughout the year) by multiplying how much you would normally get in a month x 12.

It depends on your choice and trust in POEMs. Meanwhile, roboadvisors could work for you as well and charge less than 1.25% pa!

I think there are many other ways to contribute to your childā€™s assets. If you are more risk-adverse, I think CPF is a good choice. But you can explore many other ways included in this blog here! https://www.google.com.sg/amp/s/blog.seedly.sg/investing-for-children-future/%3famp=1

If you are single, I think staying together with your parents is a good way to increase your savings! (Provided your parents do not chase you out) In an event that your parents wish for you to be independent, I think renting is a viable option/ you could convince your parents that you would pay for the utility fees or contribute towards the household funds. Using the 50/30/20 rule, you should be able to save and invest through DCA monthly and still be able to enjoy a comfortable life together with your parents!
