Why is printer ink so expensive?

I used to be a promoter for printers (1+ year). I'll be brutally honest here. Cheap printer will have expensive ink. Not to mention the fact that the cheap printer's ink can only print a few hundred pages. (DONT BUY THIS) Expensive printer, cheap ink. These are the ink tank models whereby the printer is slightly more expensive but the ink is really cheap and can print A TON. For laser printers, their toners are just really expensive.... the cheaper b/w laser printers will still set you back $60 per toner which prints about 1000-2000 pages. Dont get me started on the colour lasers..... My take is get ink tank models because : 1. Cheaper ink 2. The starter ink is full-filled unlike laser printers' starter toners which are about half filled 3. Can print photos at higher resolutions whereas laser is stuck at low res printing so you'll end up with pictures that are pretty "dotted" Only buy laser if : 1. you need the color/smudge proof printing (Though some ink printers also offer this now) 2. You only need black and white (Again, some ink tanks are coming out with monochrome models so it's pretty competitive) 3. you dont print often (once every 6 months). With ink tank models, you'll need to get the printer running at least once a month. The older ink catridge ones need to run at least once every 2 weeks. Else, they'll dry 4. you're just rich and wanna splurge on very expensive inks. colour laser printers cost a bomb and the toners are $100+ each. Not to mention the additional drum you need to buy aft 10,000 prints or so which costs about another $100+ note that all printers do have a "shelf life"

Great that you are starting out your investing journey ! You could start out with reading and watching tons of investment related content. You can watch youtube videos or read blog articles such as the ones from Seedly. My advice to new investors is always 0. Figure out what you are investing for ! (Passive income? Capital appreciation?) 1. Know what you know (Understanding your area of competence) 2. Find companies that fall in that area 3. Choose 1 that you like and understand from top to bottom 4. Start investing in that company first even if it is a small amount If you need any help you can contact me @ https://sgstockmarketinvestor.com/ !

To all new and seasoned investors, what was your first investment ever made, and how did you come across that decision?

My first investment, was actually Ascendas REIT back in May 2019. Just started out and went with the biggest and easiest to understand REIT. After a minutes of searching, Ascendas popped out. I didn't look at any valuation and just bought. The price went down shortly after but it recovered in the 2nd half of the year. This turned out to be one of my best investments ever made because fast forward to December, the rights issue came and I subscribed in excess and flipped it for big profits. What I've learnt : Valuation is important but the underlying has to be fundamentally sound and stable. Would you rather buy a fruit that MAY be spoilt at a cheap price or buy a tasty fruit at a slightly higher price?

What qualifications do you need to get a job as a web developer? How do I get started if I'm learning through online courses? Any other comments on the career?

For web devs, the minimum qualifications would be : Frontend languages and skills like React, Javascript, HTML, CSS. It would also be an added bonus if you know backend frameworks and knowledge as well like : expressJS, AngularJS, REST APIs, Database Management like MySQL Ultimately, even if you dont have knowledge in most of these areas, as long as you put in the effort to learn them, im sure you can easily find jobs as a web dev. Regarding how to get started, you can search on youtube for free content to learn more, or even start mini projects so that you can learn from hands on experience. You can also try udemy for paid courses ! If you have the chance, network a little so that you can get internship or job opportunities, because that is where you can learn the most !

I don't know how much my market worth is and am usually not confident of selling myself or giving a price, which is dangerous for a freelancer. Any advice on how I can get over this obstacle?

If you are new, I'd suggest you follow market rates or even go lower than market rates, just to get started and get some customers first ! After you had some clients, you will gain some confidence and you can accurately mark your prices based on your services and provided value. Cheers!

If you are suggesting companies that are gonna be 10 or even 100 baggers, I'd suggest you look for fundamentally strong companies with strong MOATs that can help them be the market leader in their respective industry for a very long time. An example would be VICOM but there isn't much room left to grow now. If you are suggesting tech or tech-related stocks, I'd say buy into the semi-conductor companies listed in the SGX. I wrote an article on them a while back so you can have a read here! My top 3 picks are : 1. Frecken 2. Micro-Mechanics 3. Fu Yu AEM used to be at the top of the list but now that it has ran so high up, it has been fair-valued to a little over valued so I have since removed it off my list ! Cheers and have fun in your investment journey :D
