What happen when a stock is delisted from SGX?

First of all, find out why is it delisted. If its due to buy out or privatisation, most likely your share would be bought over. I do recall, there is cases that the company shares is dual-listed, and the shares is delisted in one market but continue to trade at the other market, they allow shareholders to switch their shares to the one traded in the market that they continue to list. else if the company is declared bankrupt, and proceeding foreclosure, it’s theorectical worthless. Hence, no point thinking of selling. Unless there is desperate buyers that looking to buy. (It is very very unlikely, but I did encounter that before too) But too avoid this problem, do follow up on the company periodically, like at least quarterly

Issac and Jonathan has covered quite extensive information and analysis on Sheng Siong I would may add one 2 more points that I think is crucial to their business. i) The Management Team - I admire the Lim Brothers who have been working really hard, together with the entire Organization. They took care of their employee, and providing lot of support even to their kids. And they are also very prudent in term of business expansion, especially when they shared about the way they expand in China. I vividly remember Mr Lim shared that, His WealthPot has already filled, now his Mission is not to filled up his own, but to help to fill up the rest of the organization. ii) The Online Grocery spaces - if I didn’t remember wrongly, they do have their online infrastructure ready. However, they find it is very economical viable to run at the current volume in the general market. If they would continue to do that, it would only bleed shareholders money. But they do aware of the changes, and observing how the other players are doing.

Definitely explore more countries exchanges. US and HK exchanges have a lot of companies that could grow bigger and faster as their home market is already bigger than Singapore, and a lot of them even venture out of home market and grew even bigger as well. I personally think diversify in term of sector and nature of the business.

Personally, I would choose Cash Dividend and only decide whether I should reinvest the dividend back to the same company or invest in other better value company.

Hi David, You may write into Investor Relations, and request for it. Else, when you attend AGM, the IR team would prepare some hard copies. However, some of the companies aren't giving out hard copies anymore. And would only send you downloadable link.

Is it better to buy a stock at the right price, e.g. when it is undervalued, or buy a good stock at a reasonable price?

Totally Agree with @Bjorn Ng. "It's far better to buy a wonderful company at a fair price than a fair company at a wonderful price." Warren Buffett Sometimes, the "undervalued" companies would always "Undervalue" and there is a reason for it.

Financial statements of private companies?

I didn't really did that before. You may look from it in ACRA that may need to purchase. https://www.acra.gov.sg/how-to-guides/buying-information/corporate-compliance-and-financial-profile Some of the huge private company would do that like HuaWei. https://www.huawei.com/en/press-events/annual-report Or if you would like to invest in them, and they are opened for investors. You should request from the owner. Of if a private company going for an IPO, there will publish a prospectus where you can find their financial statements there.
