I took a loan from a financial institution - but this was a personal loan, as the effective rate was much lower than had I taken a renovation loan.

I think it's neither - it should be from your occupation (I.e key collection) date.

That depends on a number of factors, including how your company transferred, and which bank you bank with. For example, if your salary crediting account is the corporate bank account of your company, you should expect that the funds are credited on the same day that it's disbursed. These days, many companies use corporate FAST transfers to credit funds - if so you should expect that it's on the same day (only if your bank account is one of the FAST banks) as well. Else, if its through GIRO it can be up to 3 days.

Absolutely! It's sometimes a few cents of rebate, but any saving is good - especially when it's so fuss free.

Bullied. That's a HUGE red flag for me. I'd say consider escalating it within the organisation if that's available, and if not, just leave.

Great for me over the longer term - more competitors means providers are now forced to come up with 'bettee' strategies, or evolve them more frequently which ultimately means better for us consumers.

The short answer is Yes, but note also that there are many assumptions and dependencies in such a scenario - the liability/cost in this instance is guaranteed, but I'd think your returns are not. You'll also have to see the terms of your loan - is it callable? Is the rate fixed etc? But if you can clearly arbitrage it then by all means.

I'd tell my 21-year-old self to be patient and be very comfortable with delayed gratification. I've found now, more than a decade later, that these two really allows for clarity of mind.

It's great that you recognise that the stress is spilling over. Does your organisation provide support such as counselling? If so, understand that there's no shame in seeking professional help. Or consider one of the publicly available channels. Personally, I find that compartmentalizing helps. Also, arrest the situation when you realise that you're being cold and not yourself. Acknowledging it out loud is uncomfortable, but sometimes does help. Try saying "I'm sorry, it must be the stress of work. But I'm here now." Also helps those around you understand your situation.
