There are in the US (lending club for example takes on a number of transactions on to its own books), and we will definitely see this taking place more prominently in Asia with the advent of debt focussed funds. Given the current state and relatively new creation of p2p platforms in asia though, the relative size of P2P market vs size of debt funds which tends to be a lot larger is causing the slow uptake.

Through personal experience that money is locked up until a debt collector employed by the P2P company (or they themselves) can retrieve it. Unlike larger bankruptcies where bond holders can expect some money back (be it cents on the dollar), in the case of P2P lending chances are quite a bit slimmer I would say.

I think the answer will highly vary depending on what the specific FinTech company does - that being said some of the roles that Kristal.AI is actively looking to hire in is the Data Analysis (ability to understand and glean insights from data points for both creation of trading strategies and customer behaviour) and Business Development (numeber of different functions including advisory, sales, business development and marketing) space. In regards with with the why - the latter is to grow top line, while the former is to improve the inner workings of the company. As a relatively new company (like most FinTech businesses are) we are in the growth phase looking to bulk up resources across the business.

That's the billion dollar question isn't it! Sadly predicting the price (especially on a short term basis) for any underlying, especially something that can get whipsawed by a number of macro factors like Oil is basically impossible. Some of the main factors are play on the demand side, or lack there of, is the electrification/use of LPG/LNG for the purposes of transportation while also a surge of supply given the shale boom in the US. Personally find there to be more value in the shipping of oil sector.

To my knowledge there are no licensed equity based crowd funding platforms for retail investors in Singapore. Moolah Sense I believe is the only retail licensed p2p lending platform on the debt side, while you have Aspire, Validus and a number of others for accredited investors (again on the debt side).

I use both the accounts and personally have not encountered any issues with amounts being different. Did you convert currencies too by any chance?

For many platforms the default currency to showcase portfolio returns is USD. It really depends on which service provider you are using and whether you have the ability to toggle currencies to see how your overall portfolio is doing in what currency pair. We at Kristal.AI provide that functionality to our clients given the diverse nature of their requirements.

I personally do feel that there will be some brokerages that provide "free" commissions on at least some equity types in our shores. But as always, buyer beware - it really isn't "free". Your data is being sold by the platform to the highest bidder.

There are a number of platforms, multi-currency cards etc out there that enables investors to convert currency from one to the other but there is no investing offering after that which will lead to a number of transactions. Through Kristal.AI we enable our investors to convert currency (SGD into USD) at a nominal charge of 5 bps i.e. .05% after which you will be able to invest into the various Kristals (trading strategies) on the platform. In addition up to an amount of 50k USD, no fees are charged (no advisory fees, no transaction fees!

I think that is the million dollar, or well in the case of a number of unicorns the billion dollar question. A number of brokerage (Interactive Brokers Lite, E-trade, Robinhood etc), and for that matter advisory platforms and multi-currency cards to name a few in the FinTech space have gone to zero fees as a way to attract customers to begin with while providing a premium offering with other features for which a charge will be there. Kristal.AI, for example, provides zero fees up to an amount of 50k USD for any client who wants investment advice but post that amount or for that matter to access premium Kristals (trading strategies) there will be a corresponding charge.
