Though daily necessities and food at hawker centers and coffee shops are affordable, the big ticket items in SG seem wayyyy to expensive. I feel like this sum of money can be spent on elsewhere. Do the tangible costs outweigh the intangibles for you?

Costs of home are affordable if you make use of grants and buy within you means (non-mature/small size). I dont see what's wrong with 99-year lease. Assuming you buy at 21, it can last you till 120. Life expectancy is 80+ anways. HDB is meant for everyone to have housing and not for inheritance etc.
Is owning a car in SG a necessity? No. You can take public transport, private hire or rent a car. If you cannot afford it, then dont buy it.
Do note that these big ticket times are usually one off expenditure and daily/frequent expenses will be the one that costs most in the long run. This include food, utilities, medical bills, etc.

Yes, i would, for my kids. Not for money but for the education system. It is highly stressful and hard to find good jobs due to foreign talent.
Overseas pay more but got more tax. However I think their quality of life is more relaxing, which is most important for me. I don't like a kiasu culture.
