Would it be wise to change job now given the covid-19 situation?

I have been offered a position in the government sector doing safety and quality. Although the pay increment is significantly higher, I am still worry how this career change now would turn out. The position is a contract role and emplacement to permanent upon completion of the tenure. Although the HR alleviate my fear by indicating this is a permanent position, I still having concerns.. any advises? I do have this period to decide..

Its a position in the government sector.

Government don't usually fire people unless you are really horrible at it.

I think you are very safe, especially when HR already told you its a permanent position.

How long is the contract? 2 years? why u want to switch careers. How old are you? Are you married? Cos sometimes most people will hold their thoughts because of family.

you are thinking of switching career during this period, You have to check the contract document to see if there is permanent position after X years. You can let me know more so i can advise in detail.
