Either get a BTO or if can afford, a 2br condo( new launch), at least got resale value. When hdb price increase, the developer will also increase their price, becoz condo will never be cheaper than hdb.
The private market is on an long term uptrend, no matter what cooling measure the govt going to implement. However, the hdb price is just a temporary shoot up due to covid, but is on a long term downtrend.
If you buy a condo now, after covid hdb price should drop again, you can sell your condo, by then you should have few hundred K of profit. Then you will have 2 option:
1) You can continue the process of upgrading, then sell every few years, use the profit from the sale, reinvest back into a bigger property, then downgrade to a resale hdb before age 55. Then you will have one huge sum of $$$ for retirement.
2) settle down with a hdb with the cash profit.
But of course, like any investment, u cant simply just buy, there is certain things to look out for. The buying price & others physical stuff.
Property yield may be small in term of percentage but the quantum is big, the profit generated from the property sale may be equivalent to you DCA-ing $1000 per mth for 8years with a 10% p.a return in stock market. Usually people will just hold the property for 3 to 5years depend on market condition.βββ
