With Aviva is being bought over, what will happen to the existing Aviva policies?

I have an MyRegularPay endowment under Aviva purchased through Posb. It still has 4 more years of payment and 9 years till maturity. What changes would I expect? Will they Aviva products still be offered or fulfilled?

The transaction is subject to closing conditions, including regulatory approval, and is expected to complete by January 2021. Thereafter, the Aviva Singapore and Singlife legal entities will combine and be named Aviva Singlife, subject to approval by the Singapore courts, targeting 1H 2021. Aviva Singapore and Singlife will continue to operate independently until then.

Aviva and Singlife customer service teams remain unchanged. Your existing policies will continue to uphold and serviced by Aviva Singapore until the merger is completed. Should the merger goes through, the new entity Aviva Singlife will likely take over and administer your existing policies.

We have done an article on how the merger will affect you. Do check it out.

Hi anon,

Existing policies will still be honoured. They are black and white contracts after all and they are also backed by Policy Owner's Protection Scheme.

Various news outlets also state this:

  • From https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/british-i...: Aviva Singapore's customers and partners will continue to deal with the company as usual and there is no impact to customer policies, the company said.

  • From https://www.aviva.com/newsroom/news-releases/20...: Customers and partners of Aviva Singapore will continue to deal with Aviva as usual and there is no impact to customer policies as a result of this announcement. Aviva Investors’ operations and clients in Asia will not be impacted by this transaction.

  • From https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/business/a...: Its customers and partners will continue to deal with the company as usual and there is no impact to customer policies, the company said.
If the sale goes through, I expect that the new entity, Aviva Singlife, will take over the servicing of Aviva's and Singlife's policies, and moving forward, new policies will be under the care of the new entity.
