My mum who is 62 this year with high blood pressure for quite a number or years (maybe 20) and we think there would likely be exclusion or premium loading. We are mindful of the cost of premiums and riders as she age as she doesn’t have much Medisave and she is looking at B1 coverage.

I'm heartened by the fact that you are looking into an integrated shield plan for your mother. As a matter of fact, healthcare insurance is one of the most important type of insurance for anyone. This is because medical inflation has hit 10% in 2019. Consequently, a single medical cost could potentially wipe out an entire life savings.

In truth, we all want the cheapest plan with the best benefits. However, insurers have been adjusting their premiums in the recent years and the cheapest plan today may not be so tomorrow.
With this purpose in mind, I will suggest for you to understand the value that the plan is able to provide for your mother. For instance, insurers are shifting their focus towards using their panel listing of doctors. This is in an attempt to control the rising medical cost and rogue medical treatment. Therefore, it is important to work with a reputable insurer that provides such strong support.
