I'm interested in investing in a few ETFs, and am planning to buy and hold the shares long-term to ride out market fluctuations and allow them to grow in value. I recently invested in VOO, which follows the S&P 500 index. What are other recommended ETFs that I can invest in (which preferably don't have overlapping constituent companies with the S&P 500 index)? I'm looking for ETFs that are suitable for holding long term.

You may want to consider exposure to china and/or gold (vested interests). china - increasing middle class will boost consumerism (think US 50-100 years ago), Gold as a hedge.
but first you must believe that the ETF underlying country/sector is something which will grow in your long term.βββ
