I ask my relative for any resale flat around before approaching outside agent

Why need to engage agent? buying resale flat is very easy and anyone can do it.

I think going about this without an agent will cut down on your fees, but the fastest way is to find a listing you like and then contact the agent directly.

I bought my resale flat without a buyer's agent and i think that saved me some money.

  • went on propertyguru to check out resale flats in my preferred area (i was only looking at flats near one mrt station, and not older than 15 years old - that limited my options a lot). visited quite a few homes and met a lot of agents through this process.
  • familiarise myself with HDB resale procedures so i didn't have to find an agent to do for me. i was very lucky that the agent of the seller of the flat i eventually bought was very helpful in guiding me thru the process. i also asked around friends who bought resale flats. and also watched different youtube videos.
  • the only tricky thing is negotiating the price 😆 need to be clear what ur budget is. i did with my mum heh.
  • saved on buyer agent's insurance, so that was good
