Sure, professional life in modern fast changing capitalism can often be a frustrating experience.

But to retire early to me means dropping out precociusly from production for the wealth of society. So this is an ego concept when individualism is anyway proceeding.

better find a job of passion and stay with it.

Hi Zi Hao, I learn about this term Financial Independent Retire Early only recently after more and more articles appear on the media.

But to tell you the truth, as a young person at 37 back then, I never entertain the thought of retiring. Firstly, I do not hate the job that much and I was ok with it. And you have a social circle at work as well. That is important. If you retire, you might need to walk away from it.

However, this does not mean that you should not build up your wealth towards it. I think at 35 years old, the wealth got to the point where I seriously start having that question "is this really enough to don't work completely?". And my conservative estimation back then is that....not enough. It will be better to have a greater amount. Based on the math, what i had at 35 in all measurement, made me financially secure, but in some shitty scenario, i still have to work.

A greater sum would realistically mitigate the second part.

So now I am at the age where i realistically don't have to work, I am still working.

If you want me to set another target, then most likely it would be a fake target.

We set our finances in such a way to give us that optionality. Financial independence is much more valuable than the second part of FIRE.

It might be the case that something happen, then I just drop the work and do an about turn.
