Is it true that we have to pay a 1% stamp duty when we invest in S&P500 (ireland domiciled) in London Stock Exchange.
I am interested in investing in london stock exchange due to the lower withholding tax but I read that a stamp duty is required.

Yes, this is charged by the Ireland government for other stocks.

It should be mentioned in the stock brokerage fees schedule of the other fees section.
