Retirement

What is the split of cash/ investment/ srs/ cpf/ insurance that you guys have?

Currently mine is 11% cash, 37% investment, 10% srs, 36% cpf (no house), 6% insurance cash value... wondering if its too heavy on "retirement".

Everyone's investment journey is different. It depends on what you want and your prioritisatio.

A good rule of thumb would be 50% needs, 30% wants and 20% savings. Of course, this percentage amount can be changed depending individual.

My monkey brain doesn't function this way. This is how I operate:

  • focus on contributing $15300 to my SRS first (tax deductible rules!) - use SRS funds to invest
  • when I reach $15300, top up money to my CPF MA account (tax deductible rules!) - once I hit the ceiling for CPA MA, my funds will automatically flow to CPF OA
  • top up children's CDA accounts
  • n then invest what's left over into roboadvisors, trading apps n even cryptocurrency

my approach is as such because I want to hit the CPF Enhanced Retirement Sum asap. I see that as the foundation of my retirement funds. All else can wait until I hit this goal hahaha

20% cash, 15% SRS, 65% investments....
