Bill Ackman famously lost around $1 billion ($1,000,000,000) in his multi-year-long short against Herbalife. It was big news back then as he feuded with Herbalife investor Carl Icahn live on CNBC...

Eventually Carl Icahn emerged as the big winner, earning close to what Ackman had lost.
