Not really! Google Pay in Singapore is pretty feature packed - apart from the usual contactless card payments, they have incorporated features such as linking with bank accounts (OCBC, SCB, DBS PayLah), food ordering, movie ticket booking and PayNow transfers. They are also having a referral promotion now which is why you see so many posts on Seedly about Google Pay referral codes.
Apple Pay on the other hand, can only be used for contactless card payments in Singapore. In the US, Apple Pay offers the Apple Cash service which can be used to send and receive money. Also exclusive to the US is the Apple Card, which is Apple's own credit card issued in partnership with Goldman Sachs.

To add on to what Nicholas said, Right now till November, Google Pay has a promotion in which it will give you a blue scratch card for your transaction with a fellow Google Pay user. You can receive up to 3 scratch cards every week if you do this with 3 of your Google Pay friend. I received $11.30 from such a scratch card the other day!
You can Guess why Goggle Pay transactions have been incorporated into my TGIF! routine
