What is the best value for money car to purchase in 2021?

Well this one is quite a subjective question. As car nerds like myself and people who see cars only as a mean of transportation will have different views. Generally I believe the best value for money car should have a low depreciation but at the same time not compromise on too much.

In my opinion if you are looking for a good value for money car and you are not brand conscious, maybe go with the Korean makes which have been getting increasingly good in the recent years. Cars such as the latest Hyundai Avante are quite a bang for your buck. It should be around a 100k now. This latest alteration looks better and more aggressive than the Corolla, has a better looking interior and is priced cheaper than the Corolla. If you need a car and you are not brand conscious, this should be your pick. You can get one for about 9k depreciation. This is relatively higher than previous generations of Avantes so if you are on a tighter budget, you may want to consider the previous generation one which can be found for about 7-8k depre used. Another option could be the Kia Cerato which is priced relatively similar. They are brought in by different authorized dealers however a fun fact is that I believe the previous Avante and the Cerato share the same platform. Meaning to say they are basically the same car with different looks and styling but their engines are virtually the same.

Personally for me a car nerd, I would get a coe car if I am looking for bang for your buck. I personally like the w212 E class and a renewed coe one can be found for about 8-9k a year. (Used to be about 7-8k but due to the increase pqp it has increased). A w212 E class still within it's 10 year COE goes for about 17-18k depreciation a year. You are basically paying about half the cost in terms of depreciation but getting luxury car features, a reliable and great engine, and a great looking car!
