What is the best and most value credit card?

I am a fresh graduate and I think I’m more inclined towards cards that don’t require minimum spend per month and has the highest cashback (correct me if I shouldn’t be focusing on those). Which credit card is the best and most value?

On a side note, can credit cards really be used to pay for school fees like Tuition Fee Loan? I saw on UOB website that UOB Absolut can be used for school fees and I am now regretting not signing up for a credit card earlier. I could’ve earned $400-$500 cashback…

If you want to play the Credit Card game for maximum rewards, it is difficult to stick to 1 card. In terms of no minimum spend, and no exclusion spending, AMEX True Cashback and UOB Absolut (both AMEX cards) offer the best deals. I'm not sure how is the cashback for Absolut credited, but AMEX True Cashback is the only card I've seen that credits the cashback in the same bill.

While it is true that you can get cashback on any spending, not every merchant accepts AMEX - and it's usually the merchants which are under the exclusion list for other cards.

Hi Jim,

There's nothing wrong with focusing on cashback if you don't want to collect miles. Cashback has the benefit of providing immediate value while the value from miles can only be gained when you actually redeem it. Alternatively, you can also use Rewards cards to earn points which can be converted to vouchers like dining/groceries/shopping.

For cashback cards with no minimum spending, the best option is unlimited cashback cards like UOB Absolute or AMEX True Cashback. These cards can be coupled with the GrabPay card to earn bonus rewards in the form of GrabRewards points because UOB Absolute and AMEX True Cashback earn cashback for Grab top-ups. You can read this post about these cards to find out more: https://www.thefrugalstudent.com/the-best-unlim...

Yes, UOB Absolute and AMEX True Cashback can be used to pay for school fees to earn cashback, but I'm not sure about loan repayments - typically loan payments don't earn rewards.

Hope this helps!
