2020 has been a crazy year, to be honest. Also, it was this period of time that didn't make sense to me. I'm heavily invested in US equities, and as the number of cases increased, more deaths and unemployment happened, the valuation of companies, and the price of stocks just kept increasing.
But then again, the market this year was mostly propelled by the Fed printing dollar bills and bored teenagers who have to stay at home treating the stock market like a betting market. With that said, I'll share some of my best decisions and worst decisions of the year.
Worst Decision - Shorting $TSLA.
Everyone knows $TSLA has had a good year. In fact, the stock is up almost 700% in this year alone. The wrong decision I made was shorting $TSLA shortly after the split. Even though I was in profit in the first few days, it didn't take long for $TSLA to rebound and hit new all-time highs. As such, I closed my position, taking a loss. If there's any lesson to be learnt from this, it would be to take trailing profits and not be too greedy.
Best Decision - Having enough cash to buy the dip during March/April 2020.
In March 2020, as COVID raged around the world, equities and cryptocurrencies began dropping like grapes. I was fortunate enough to have enough cash on the sidelines. As soon as I saw $BTC around the US$4,000-$5,000 mark, I quickly bought some. Same went for some U.S. equities like $NKE, $DIS and a few others. In just a few short months, most, if not all of them recovered and gave me a 60-70% gains. On the other hand, I'm still holding the $BTC I bought from then, and it has given me a 500-600% gain as of the time of writing.βββ

I took a brave move by cutting loss of my super terrible index (sti) and buying into ARKK etf. Recouped all of the losses and even earned a profit within a short span, really no regrets.
