When the 99-year lease is up, the land will revert ownership back to Singapore Land Authority.
There is two possible scenarios before this happens:
Lease top-up (continue staying at current location)
En-bloc sale (move to new housing)
If you do not wish to be troubled with the lease expiring, you can consider freehold property which comes at a premium.
However, if you feel 99 years is too long, you can consider the lease buyback scheme where you can sell part of your lease to HDB to top up your CPF RA.
