I understand the concept of ETF but I am overwhelmed by the number of choices. I'm in my mid 20s, and looking to invest long-term (i.e >20 years). Which ETFs and platforms have the lowest fees for $500 and $1000? Also, I'm not too keen in robo-advisors since I forsee myself withdrawing the money to put it elsewhere.

On platforms, I would recommend kristal.AI if you would like control over ETF selection. Kristal not only holds a good selection of US ETFs and UK/Europe based UCITS ETFs, but also offers no transaction charges for the first US$50000 up to 25 trades a year.
ETFs that have really been hot this year are those holding tech stocks such as QQQ and EMQQ, but some of their underlying stocks do appear overvalued from a risk-reward perspective. Aggressive investors can consider growth plays such as Cyber (CIBR), Robotic ETFs (BOTZ) and emerging market ETFs, while more conservative ones can consider safer plays such as MOAT and Utilities (XLU). Most importantly, do consider your risk rolerance and investment horizon when building your own ETF portfolio.
Juat my two cents!
