What does “being heavily backed by Temasek Holdings” mean for companies? Is it a good or bad thing, and why?

When things go sour for these companies, there's Papa Temasek to inject capital and/or lend at low-interest rates.

But i dont really like it, companies as an individual entity should rely on its own capabilities to survive and thrive. This could create a mental crutch for mgmt to rely too much on its parent when adversity hits. Also might tempt some investors to avoid exercising due diligence when analysing a particular stocked backed by a big stud
