I really enjoy my career as a bartender. However, drunk customers are the worst part of my job. When drunk customers get excited or agitated, they routinely end up damaging furniture and breaking glasses. I've had a customer break an $800 bottle of Scotch whisky before. Sometimes, things escalate into fights with other patrons.

Some of this damage even gets taken out of my paycheck by my manager, b/c I'm responsible for escorting these drunks out of the bar. Evidently, the drunks got to damage the bar before I had the chance to move them out!

This aspect of my job has made me seriously consider switching careers to take on a 9-5. What's the best way of dealing with this?

Perhaps you could store the more expensive bottle out of reach / sight? There looks to be F&B insurance that covers Liquor Liability (https://www.sompo.com.sg/commercial-insurance-p...) can consider asking your manager to claim from the insurance instead of you
