If you rent out 1 room,
Pros:
1) Cover your utilities and housing expenses. No more monthly top ups to your joint account.
2) Rental income could also be used to cover your housing loan so that you do not need to touch your CPF OA account
3) Give you a feel of what it is like to be a landlord and enjoy some form of passive income. Aka once the system is setup, money will just keep coming in.
Cons:
1) Sacriface certain degree of privacy
2) Actively screen your tenant to ensure you get one who meets your requirements and is a good paymaster as well.
3) You need to buy up a system to market and screen for good tenants. Alot of initial background work but it is all worthwhile once the money comes in.
