Life Alchemist at School of Hard Knocks
Just my thoughts....Money is a way to upkeep our existence. Whether it's while we're alive or dead. (Dead as in leaving a name, legacy, or history behind)
After death, some will generate enough money, or ensure they have a money-generating machine (business) to upkeep others' existence, whether it's through a business (think Steve Jobs...who ensured the continuity after his death...people still have jobs to feed their families), or a charity (think Ronald Reed. He donated to a hospital and library).
So for them, they didn't spend hours of their life for non-living things, but for other living things, like people and I'm sure some will do it for animals and our beautiful planet. (No doubt they still need money on things for their upkeep while living in a reasonable way, but generally they want to make the world a better place)
And if it's this direction, then spending money makes spending the hours of our life for things worth it.

I resonate with the article and is also why I believe low wages is cruel.
Someone has to do the job, create living wages, ya know? These people are putting their life into work and yet struggle to survive.
