What are the pros and cons of Stocks Cafe?

I've just started using it but I don't see much benefit to it. Perhaps I'm not utilizing all its benefits properly.

Hi, here is a list of pros as directly quoted from the reviews of other Seedly threads here and here.

Pros:

  • "Compared to other portfolio tracking, this is one of the most comprehensive and cheapest option around. It provides alot of insights and reports, upcoming dividends, benchmarking etc"

  • "They also provide useful information, such as when dividends are coming up, what your projected dividends for the year is, and the various ratios that you'd need to do some analysis."

Cons:

  • There is a free tier but full access to all features requires a subscription.

  • It is mostly a one-man show (concentration risk). I am hoping to change this in the future so that even if I am gone, StocksCafe can continue.

And yes, it is hard to disagree that Sharesight is definitely a powerful portfolio tracker. However, it is also at least 5 to 10 times more expensive than StocksCafe if you need the premium features (Sharesight Pricing vs StocksCafe Pricing).

I am Evan from StocksCafe hence my views may be biased :)

For a retail investor it is interesting but not essential to have portfolio tracking service. With dividends and reinvesting them or not, stock splits, defaults, trafing fees, it get's ever more complicated to calculate something out of it to the last detail. Also a number of different total portfolio performance methodologies exist, there is some controversy.

In the end the rough calculations of your returns you could do manually by just looking onto your year end account statements.

I doubt that StockCafe will really change your actions.

Sound asset allocation as well as reducing fees and risks are more important to investing success.
