Hey!

So under the eye of the law, the occupier is not a homeowner. With that, comes various pros and cons.

Cons:

  1. Occupier's CPF cannot be used to help pay the HDB.

  2. Occupier has no ownership rights on the property.

  3. Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) applies to both the occupier and owner.

Pros:

  1. The occupier will not be required to pay Additional Buyer's Stamp Duty

  2. The occupier will be able to qualify for a higher loan quantum when purchasing a private property.
