Recently, I am being told that I cannot be covered for disability income insurance due to the nature of my work which is of high risk. Would like to know if there are any policies (at different agencies) that would exclude other particular jobs that are high risk in nature?

Hi Anon,
Policies that might be rejected or have loading(more costly premiums) are usually Personal Accident, Life/Term Coverage, or Disability insurance policies.
The above list are just some examples of policies, and it isn't an exhaustive list!βββ

Hi there,
Sorry to hear that you are unable to apply for disability income.
Generally, as insurers are a risk-management company, there are some occupations that they might not accept due the statistical risk of permanent injury from your occupation. Insurers mainly adopt the practice of risk pooling, to allow greater parity for its clients. In this case, your high-risk occupation, might adversely affect the rest of the entire population, which will not be ideal for the company or its clients.
A general guide would be to get your quotation from the insurers with a larger pool of clients, to have an increased probability of acceptance. Inadvertently, do expect your premiums to be higher than average, to account for the risk undertaken.
The list of occupations are non-exhaustive, and the discretion to accept an application lies in the insurer. To name a few that might be familiar; Professional Race Driver, Professional Athlete or Commando.
In any case, there might be workarounds depending on the actual occupation for yourself. If you are interested to know more, you can contact me, for a consultation and we can take it offline.
I hope i was able to address your query! Have a great week ahead!βββ
