Hey! CIMB World Mastercard is great if you're a high spender with a big social budget–but don't want to pay an annual fee. You'd earn an unlimited 1.5% cashback on everyday spend (equal to what you'd earn with Amex True Cashback or SC Unlimited), boosted to 2% on leisure-driven categories (like dining, entertainment, recreation, auto & parking, petrol and duty-free shopping). These rates are pretty competitive across unlimited cards, but you'd have to spend S$6k-S$8k/month to earn more than you could with one of the better capped cashback cards (UOB One and Maybank Family & Friends are best-in-market, in my opinion).

Fortunately, CIMB World is free, so you get access to all the great perks without paying a dime:

  • 50% off green fees at 25 golf courses across Asia

  • Discounted lounge access via MasterCard Airport Experiences/LoungeKey (US$32/person/visit)

  • Free travel insurance: Accidental death & permanent disablement coverage up to S$1M, plus travel inconvenience coverage (baggage loss, bag & flight delays, trip misconnections)

  • CIMB Deals & Discounts (dining, shopping, travel, wellness & more)

  • CIMB 0% i.Pay Plan (instalment plan with interest-free payments, up to 24mo)

  • e-Commerce Purchase Protection

  • SimplyGo Compatible

As a result–even if you're an average spender–you can still benefit from using CIMB World just for its perks as a complement to an everyday card that has higher rebate rates.

It's worth pointing out that, if you're a golfer or frequent traveller, you might prefer CIMB Visa Infinite Card–it's also free, but has better golf and lounge perks. If you'd like to learn more about either of these cards, check out the reviews below.

Hope this helps!

It depends on your needs and usage.

With 2% cashback on selected categories and 1.5% on other eligible spending, it is pretty much a standard cashback card to consider.

Moreover, the airport lounge access and golfing privilege may be handy if you use them often enough.

Finally, there is no annual fee - saves you the hassle of calling in to waive the charges every year.
