1. Long walks with sights to see (Cost: Free. You get to stretch those legs too)
Walks around the MBS area, especially at night. Free, with sights to see. This includes the light show which happens nightly at MBS. If this is a weekend, you probably can get lucky with some free shows at esplanade, which is accessible after the Helix bridge! Lots of sights to see along the way as well, including the high-SES diners at MBS.
Another option is to walk into Sentosa from Vivo. There are some light shows at night at USS, but not as amazing as the ones along MBS.
2. For foodie couples, hawker dates (Cost: Low priced, unless you want to eat some black pepper crabs at hawker centres)
While not the most high-ses, its sometimes fun to check out awesome food at hawker centres, and enjoy a fun dinner together! Checking out new food is interesting, and you can amp it up with checking out a hawker centre that you two have not been to before! Beware of long queues and hot environments though! For girls who like to pile on the make-up and wear pretty dresses, it might make sense to not dress up for a hawker date.
3. Check out Singapore's parks (Cost: Free)
With all the effort and money going into Singapore's parks, including the famed Botanical Gardens, these places are free and a pleasure to be in. Avoid weekends though, if you are not a fan of crowds.
4. Free movies at Changi Airport (Cost: Free)
I have noticed that the public amphitheatre-ish area at Changi Airport has a big screen where visitors can lounge and watch free movies! Not a bad way to spend a few hours if you are tired of walking and want to lepak.
And if you want cheap(er) food, the airport staff canteen is an option! Google to find out how to access.
5. Tour Singapore museums (Cost: Sometimes free)
I find that Singaporeans are sometimes able to get free admission into museums. An interesting way to spend a few hours in air-conditioned comfort, and learn about history at the same time.
