What are some credit card strategies that can help me to maximise cashback?

Have been working for few years, but only gotten my first credit card (Citi Cashback+) last year since I find it difficult to hit min spending for most cards every month, especially when my bigger spendings will be excluded. I am considering to get few other cards to maximise cashback. Given my low spending and excluded spendings, any recommendation on the card strategy (prefer cashback) I can take?

Fixed ($300+)

  • Utilities (Senoko)
  • Telco (Giga & Vivifi)
  • Monthly Insurance Premium (GE & Singlife)
  • Income Tax
  • Transport (considering SCB Smart CC)

Non fixed

  • F&B, shopping, travel etc

Others ($3k)

  • Annual Insurance Premium

In addition, given that I am employed ~6k, any issue if I apply few credit cards in a short period? And do I need to have a bank account with the bank before applying the recommended credit card?

Don't buy into the cashback/rebate perks from credit card companie. Get only what you need. Credit Card spending is spending future monies, you're borrowing from the bank. So no matter how much rebate you get, you're still spending into the future.

I still think UOB One Credit Card is great if you open a UOB One Savings Account, have your salary credited monthly and spend minimum $500 per month on either UOB One Debit/Credit Card, you'll qualify for interest of 3.85% p.a. The bonus interest for using the card is also good. Use the online calculator to see how much you'll earn from this card and bank account.

I use sc unlimited because no min spend. cashback at 1.5% with the normal exclusions
